👋 Hey there! We’ve been the driving energy of the Liberal Party for more than 60 years, from being the boots on the ground during our toughest local campaigns to developing the policy ideas that move our party forward.
Who we are 🚀
The Young Liberals are the youth wing of the Liberal Party of Australia. We’re a centre-right, mainstream political organisation with a political philosophy rooted in Liberal ideology — Individual freedom, limited government, free enterprise, low taxes, a focus on the family, and a strong belief in rewarding initiative and private enterprise.
Young Liberal members have opportunities to have a say about policy, meet our Senators and Members of Parliament, make new friends, network with future leaders of government, business and industry, develop leadership and communication skills, campaign for the Liberals, and even run for Council or Parliament.
We’re one of the largest youth organisations in Australia with members in every corner of the nation. Structurally, the Young Liberal Movement of Australia is a component of the Liberal Party of Australia, made up of our State Divisions. When you join the Young Liberals, you join your state’s Young Liberal Movement within your state’s Liberal Party.

Leadership 🙌
The Young Liberals are led by our Federal President, Federal Executive, and our State Presidents and State Executives. The Federal President and Vice-President are elected each year at Federal Young Liberal Council, as a part of the YLs premier federal event each year — Federal Convention.
Partnerships 🌏
The Young Liberals are Australia’s leading centre-right youth organisation. The Young Liberal Movement is affiliated with the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU), and we have close ties with other centre-right youth organisations around the world, including our good friends over the ditch in New Zealand’s Young Nats, and our mates in the Young Conservatives in the UK and the Young Republicans in the United States.

Senator the Hon Jonathon Dunaim
Jonno Duniam has been a Senator for Tasmania since 2016. A proud Tasmanian from birth, Senator Duniam has long been an advocate for regional communities, small business, and ensuring young Australians have access to the opportunities they need to succeed.
Before entering federal Parliament, Jonno served as president of the University of Tasmania Liberal Club, where he built a reputation as a principled and energetic campaigner for Liberal values.
Jonno has always maintained a strong connection to the grassroots of our movement. He understands the vital role that Young Liberals play as both a policy engine and a talent pipeline for the Liberal Party.
Serving as the current Federal Patron of the Young Liberal Movement of Australia, Jonno’s leadership reflects a belief in personal responsibility, enterprise and the importance of fostering the next generation of leaders.
